UCSF offers three advanced practice provider (APP) fellowship programs that are led by co-program directors Brandon Sessler, MMS, PA-C and Ivette Becerra-Ortiz, DNP, MPH, NP, RN, NEA-BC, CPNP-PC and supported by a distinguished roster of faculty and preceptors. The programs feature practice-based learning, didactic education, mentorship and scholarly projects. They are designed to expand the knowledge and skills new graduate (within 18 months of program completion) APPs acquire during their graduate or doctoral training. Fellows are paid and receive full benefits. The programs run November 1 to October 31, annually.
Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Accredidation™(APPFA)
The UCSF Medical Center APP Fellowship is accredited with distinction as an Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation Practice Transition Programs.

Surgical and Critical Care APP Fellowship
The UCSF Surgical and Critical Care APP Fellowship is accredited with distinction as an Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation™(APPFA) in Practice Transition Programs. The program is in its tenth cohort and is supported by the UCSF Office of Advanced Practice Providers, UCSF Health, and the UCSF School of Nursing. The program accepts certified physician assistants or adult gerontology acute care nurse practioners with certification from the ANCC (AGACNP-BC) or AACN (ACNPC-AG).

Cancer Services APP Fellowship
The UCSF Cancer Services APP Fellowship is accredited with distinction as an Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation™(APPFA) in Practice Transition Programs. The program is in its third cohort and is supported by the UCSF Office of Advanced Practice Providers, UCSF Health, and the UCSF School of Nursing. The program accepts certified physician assistants or adult or family advanced practice registered nurses with certification from ANCC (AG-ACNP, AG-PCNP, or FNP) or AANP (AG-PCNP).

APP ED Transition to Practice Fellowship
The UCSF Emergency Medicine APP Fellowship is sponsored by the UCSF Office of Advanced Practice Providers, UCSF Medical Center, and UCSF School of Nursing. The fellowship is a 12-month transition to practice program for new graduate APPs and is designed to expand on the knowledge and skills acquired during graduate or doctoral APP programs. The UCSF APP ED Transition to Practice Fellowship is in its first cohort and features clinical rotations, didactic education, mentorship, and a scholarly project. The program will be eligible to apply for accredidation starting in 2025.
