Michelle Klosterman is a pediatric nurse practitioner and registered dietitian who specializes in conditions involving the digestive system. Her expertise includes nutritional adequacy to support children's growth and development. She provides care for pediatric pancreatitis, total pancreatectomy and islet auto-transplant (surgery to remove the pancreas while preserving the body's ability to make insulin), congenital hyperinsulinism (a genetic disorder in which insulin levels are too high) and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (a condition in which a lack of certain enzymes results in poor digestion). She is also interested in failure to thrive (a condition in which a child's physical development is abnormally slow) and in conditions requiring total parenteral nutrition (giving nutritional products intravenously) or enteral nutrition (tube feeding that uses the digestive tract).

Klosterman earned bachelor's degree in dietetics from the University of California, Davis a master's degree in nutrition science from San Jos̩ State University. She completed a dietetic internship at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and a pediatric nutrition fellowship at Indiana University РPurdue University Indianapolis. She earned her master's degree in nursing through UCSF's pediatric nurse practitioner program. She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
