 Overview

I am dually certified as a Neonatal and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and have over thirty years of clinical experience in neonatal and pediatric care. Since 1995 I have been affiliated with the UCSF School of Nursing as a clinical faculty member. From 2015 through 2019 I held the role of Neonatal Specialty Coordinator and oversaw the reopening of this MS program specialty. In my clinical faculty role I provide didactic teaching and skills and mentoring to neonatal and pediatric advanced practice nursing students.

I view myself as a neonatal/pediatric generalist and am interested in many neonatal and pediatric health issues such as nutrition and growth, and pulmonary, gastrointestinal, neurologic and hematologic physiology and pathophysiology.

My faculty role has cultivated an interest in the integration of technology into nursing education. I was previously lead clinical faculty for a SF-based student cohort enrolled in a dual-campus distance neonatal nurse practitioner training program. I have continued to develop resources for neonatal and pediatric training based on this work, including a role as Faculty Champion overseeing development of a support hub for education and curricular innovation in the school of nursing. My current teaching interests include development of portfolios, integration of inter-professional learning into nursing education and applying strategies such as simulation and virtual learning environments to nursing curricula. I am currently the Associate Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program in the school, with both leadership and teaching responsibilities for this online professional degree program.
